The design and locking system is noteworthy. In 1893 the press stud was altered, resulting in the Model 1886/93. In 1916 the hook quillon ceased to be manufactured and the hilt was changed to brass from silver alloy to enhance manufacturing efficiency. The final WW1 version was the 188/93/16. The scabbard remained unchanged. The Lebel rifle was the standard firearm for the French infantry in WW1. - Tip of one has a slight bend
